The Halliwell Document - Introduction

The Halliwell Document records requirements expressed during and derived from the Workshop on Multilingual Content Management Requirements held on November 1st 2006 at Trinity College Carmarthen, UK. -

On November 1st 2006 Topia Systems brought together a group of translation and language experts at the Halliwell Conference Centre, Trinity College Carmarthen, UK, - part of the University of Wales.

Russ Ferriday of Topia Systems introduced the theme of Multilingual Content Management, summarizing the state of the art, and outlining a vision for the future.

Several formal analysis techniques were demonstrated, before the participants engaged in a discussion of translation issues in larger organizations,  needs for the present, and visions for the future. That discussion was developed into this document, which is a starting-point for an open development project.  Non-technical readers should feel free to jump to the narrative sections, to get an easy overview of the system.

If you have an interest in multilingual content, please read the document, Your comments are welcome.

The next step will be consultation of the participants in the workshop, to assess their interest in further collaboration.
