On November 1st 2006, in Carmarthen, Russ Ferriday will run a Workshop attended by officers of 5 Welsh Statutory Authorities, the Welsh Language Board, and several other public and academic bodies. The goal is to elicit a clear set of requirements for improvements in the area of Content Management, Translation, Translation Memories, and translation cost-accounting. The Workshop will also introduce organizations unfamiliar with open source practices to this growing field, and open the field for local collaboration in system development.

Russ's talk will present the outcome of that Workshop. The next steps for the project will be discussed, and opportunities for collaboration will be outlined.

Members of public organizations in Wales may be interested to attend this meeting, which, among other things, will outline the possibilities of using open source technologies for public projects.
