Debut for Welsh Plone

At the DZUG Tagung (Conference) in Bonn, Germany, the Welsh translation of Plone was publicly demonstrated for the first time.

The public debut for Welsh Plone was at the 7th DZUG Tagung in Bonn, on the 15th of September, 2006.

Russ Ferriday gave a demo of text being translated from German to English, using Plone. Then Welsh was added as a new language, and the text was translated again into Welsh.

Many find the facility with which Plone handles multiple languages to be an enormous contrast compared with their existing CMS. Impressive not just in the way that the content itself can be managed, but also in the language switching of the user interface around it.

Topia Systems managed the project but the professional translation was performed by Rhoslyn Prys, who has translated projects such as Firefox and Open Office, among others. Rhoslyn's family has long connections with the goals of advancing the Welsh language. Technical assistance was provided by Emyr Thomas, who also provided Croeso i Bonn, below.

Below is the example page - based on text from a Welcome To Bonn text from Bonn's tourist site.
